Raja Beni Mellal have already parted ways with another manager, in search for their first win of the season.
It only took one month and five league matches for leaders of Raja Beni Mellal to pull the trigger on Aziz El Amri. The 70-year-old veteran was brought in as a replacement for Mourad Fellah to rescue the newcomers, who were yet to win a single game in Botola at the time. Since then, they’ve continued the losing run, as RBM have been defeated in all their matches since El Amri took over. 1-0 loss to Ittihad Tanger, three straight home defeats to Hassania Agadir, Wydad Casablanca and Mouloudia Oujda, before losing again on Monday, to league leaders RS Berkane.
Beni Mellal sit rock bottom of the league, with a single point in eleven rounds and relegation almost looks set in stone already. Bringing in El Amri seemed strange to begin with, especially considering his disastrous spell at Kawkab Marrakech last season.
There won’t be too many more chances for RBM to get it right and they will need to start racking up points quickly, to have any hope of staying in the Moroccan top-flight. Reinforcements have been brought in, with the likes Yassine Salhi, Aymane Majid and Redouane Zerzouri signing for the club in January. Most likely it will be too little, too late, but the Anaruz will live to die another day for now.
